186,000 Tons less CO2 thanks to AURENA Users

A recent study by WU Vienna demonstrates the enormous CO2-saving potential that lies in the reuse of pre-owned products.

The AURENA team is excited about the 186,000 tons of CO₂ saved by the users of the auction platform in 2024.

The amount of CO2 that 21,397 Austrians emit in one year – that’s how much climate-damaging CO2 users of the auction platform AURENA saved in 2024 alone. This finding comes from a new study conducted by the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Institute for Transport and Logistics Management. Study author Dr. Wolfram Groschopf and his team examined in detail the CO2-saving potential of the circular economy – that is, when used products remain in the economic cycle or are given a new purpose.

Significant Increase compared to the previous Year

In 2024, AURENA users saved 186,156.74 tons of CO2 – an increase of 93 percent compared to 2023. According to Dr. Wolfram Groschopf: “The study results not only make the ecological impact of AURENA’s business model measurable, but also highlight the importance of reuse and resource conservation as key components of a sustainable circular economy.”
