Let's build to thrill

Junior DevOps Engineer (f/m/x)

Leoben or Remote

We are the creators of AURENA, the fastest growing auction platform in central Europe with more than 400,000 corporate and private bidders. Our mission is to build the best auction experience in the digital world and to deliver thrill and excitement to our users. We are a scale-up business, already the market leader in Austria, and now expanding in Europe.

Join our dedicated team – let’s build to thrill together.

Your opportunity

As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you’ll join an experienced engineering team operating the infrastructure behind our real-time auction platform.

You should already have around 1–2 years of practical experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or a closely related role. You do not need to know our entire technology stack.

We’ll help you deepen your experience with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes and CI/CD, while gradually giving you ownership of production infrastructure, deployment pipelines, observability and developer tooling.

You’ll also get exposure to Kafka, Elastic Cloud, distributed systems, event sourcing and event-driven microservices as your experience grows.

Your area of responsibility

  • Build and maintain AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure using Terraform, initially together with experienced engineers and with increasing ownership over time
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and automate repetitive deployment and operational tasks
  • Build and maintain monitoring, dashboards and alerts using Amazon CloudWatch, Elastic Cloud and Kibana
  • Investigate production issues, understand their root causes and help implement lasting improvements
  • Support software releases and troubleshoot development and test environments
  • Improve internal tools and services that make software engineers more productive
  • Participate in technical discussions about reliability, infrastructure, deployment and architecture

What makes you the right candidate?

  • Around 1–2 years of practical experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, systems engineering or a related technical role
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
    Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform, CloudFormation or similar;
    AWS or another major cloud platform;
    Docker or Kubernetes;
    CI/CD pipelines;
    Linux systems and troubleshooting;
  • Comfortable working with networking, IAM/permissions, deployment processes, logs, and production troubleshooting
  • You can read and reason about Java or JavaScript code; expert software-development skills are not required
  • Comfortable investigating problems rather than only following predefined instructions
  • Comfortable using AI tools to support research, problem-solving, and everyday work, while critically evaluating their output and being able to explain and verify the result
  • Willing to complete selected learning tasks without AI assistance to strengthen foundational skills
  • Communicate confidently in English
  • Technical education such as HTL, FH or TU is desirable
  • EU citizen or valid work permit for the EU
  • Place of residence: Austria and able to travel regularly to our Leoben office
